Beware of Buffets

Jacob and i are home alone, the rest of the gang is in church. God bless my man for taking 6 children, 10 and under, to church alone, including 2 very busy twins. It's a good thing big daddy is a strict disciplinarian.

I actually feel lonely with everyone gone. Jacob is so content that he sleeps, eats, looks around and then drifts off to sleep. What a blessing to have a happy baby. I wasn't sure how happy he would be after supper last night. We were brain dead last night at supper time, having no clue what to make and Marlin was actually out of ideas. So i suggested chinese. Brilliant idea, mama, especially a small take out chinese place with a few tables. The neon sign advertising a buffet should've been our first warning, the half empty buffet our second. The food was sad, and i kept going back to the buffet, hoping another grease soaked plate would lift the ball of lead on my gut. No such luck and we walked out feeling absolutely disgusting and i had a little nervous feeling that Jacob wouldn't be impressed several hours later. Fortunately he hasn't minded, but the some of the rest of us have. Hey, at least we're teaching our kids what kind of food NOT to eat. Good chinese food is wonderful, bad chinese food is wonderfully awful. Now we know that the one and only chinese restaurant within 20 miles of us isn't worth supporting. We would've felt just as fulfilled at McDonalds. The best part of the evening? When the waitress asked Marlin if all these children are from one mom and one dad. Huh? No, the other 6 wives got in a fight and had to stay at home. Marlin assured her that they actually are from one woman and one man and she came to the brilliant conclusion that we're "just a really, really beeg family." Lady, you ain't seen nothin' yet.....

  2. it's a lesson I learned a long time ago - we always stay away from chinese restaurants that have buffets. my mother nearly died from one. it was nasty nasty.

I'm glad you're better! and even happier it didn't effect Jacob.
