Cod Liver Oil

Ahhh, cod liver oil. That nasty tasting stuff that children for many years in another era would run from, shuddering at the horrible fishy taste. My kids know exactly how they feel, although they don't bother running since it wouldn't do them any good. I don't think it's as bad as it used to be but it's still far from pleasant. So why take it? Because it's good for you that's why. Any more questions?

Cod liver oil provides fat-soluble vitamins A and D and is also rich in EPA. It's very important for the proper function of the brain and nervous system and trust me when i say that i can use all the help i can get. Women who want to get pregnant, are pregnant and women who are nursing should DEFINITELY take it. It's also very important for young children as they are developing and growing. Cod liver oil works best when taken with high-vitamin butter oil, or just make sure you eat lots of raw grass fed butter. At this point we just do cod liver oil, thanks to the fact that our land lord wouldn't be real excited to see a cow in our backyard and high vitamin butter oil is painfully expensive. When you're dishing it out to 8 people...........ouch.

Personal testimony here. I haven't been real faithful in taking it this winter cause i just get weary of it and i've noticed i am getting slammed with colds. Some of that is due to simply not taking care of myself since i'm not nursing or pregnant and don't feel the pressure to keep myself in top shape. I also felt, oh how should i say this..................evil. Hormonal, grouchy, short tempered. (i can't believe i'm admitting this on the world wide web) I tried to hide it but that only lasts for so long before the kids would do something that would trigger it and i'd find myself hiding in the bathroom with a magazine of far away places. I happened to talk to a friend and i was complaining how i'm getting one cold after the other and it ticks me off. We're supposed to be healthy, not sneezing and sniffling. She asked me if i'm taking cod liver oil and i admitted that i wasn't. SO, i started taking it again. I got results i hadn't planned on. I still got my cold but the main miracle was that my hormones evened out!! But of course, Vitamin D is what you get from the sun and is what helps us to be happy, i should've thought. The irritable, grouchy feeling lifted and i feel a lot calmer. Woohoo!!! I also started giving it to Emily, figured if it's good for my hormones it should be good for hers too. Actually, all the kids are taking it, it's great for the immune systems.

So friends, give it a try. Feeling a little blue and sad? Hiding in the bathroom a little too much? Try some cod liver oil. Be careful what brand you use, many are full of additives and mercury. We use this brand and really like it. Well, as much as you can like cod liver oil. http://www.greenpasture.org/node

  2. Hmm, never heard of the sardine oil, may have to check it out once our 15 bottles are gone.

Are checking into the music player thing. If anyone else has had that happen, PLEASE let us know. My man can't figure out how in the world that happened but is working on it. If worse comes to worse we'll remove the music. The blushing kind of music is NOT what we're about. Been there, listened to that before Christ and are never going back.

Thanks for saying something, Laura. Love ya. :)
